AutismOne 2009 in ChicagoPreconference Topics Include the GFCF Diet, DAN! and Special Ed Law
Jenny McCarthy, author, activist and mother of a child with autism, will deliver the keynote address at AutismOne 2009, which begins May 20, 2009.
The Autism One organization is a 501(c)(3) parent-run nonprofit that aims to educate other parents about the dangers of vaccines and provide information on the latest in biomedical therapies used to treat autism spectrum disorders. In addition to the AutismOne Conference, the organization also uses the AutismOne Radio program and an AutismOne Outreach program to help reach parents around the world. An AutismOne Conference will be held in Canada this year but the next conference sponsored by the organization begins on Wednesday, May 20 in Chicago, Illinois. The five-day conference will begin with a keynote address by noted author, activist and mother of a child with autism, Jenny McCarthy. Preconference EventsThere are 10 preconference events scheduled; the preconference topics will be presented on May 20 and May 21. Conference attendees may choose from the following ten topics:
Main Conference FeaturesDr. Amy Yasko is one of the most respected doctors among those that practice biomedical interventions in autism. Dr. Yasko will be hosting a full-day practitioner training session on May 23. “She will use a case study as an example where the patient came to her with approximately 10% function and no language, and then progressed over a period of a few years to doing very well in high school and making progress in conversational language.” Source: AutismOne Other special topics scheduled for the main conference include a vaccine education seminar, an environmental symposium and the Elias Tembenis seizure think tank. Conference SpeakersIn addition to the keynote address by Jenny McCarthy and a special practitioner training session with Dr. Amy Yasko, many well-known professionals are also scheduled to speak at the conference. James Adams, PhD, Kenneth Bock, MD, Jeffrey Bradstreet, MD, Doreen Granpeesheh, PhD, and David Kirby are all scheduled to speak at AutismOne 2009. Hotel and Registration InformationThe four-star Westin O’Hare Hotel will host the AutismOne 2009 Chicago conference. The hotel is located at 6100 North River Road in Rosemont, less than two miles from O’Hare International Airport. There are several different registration options from which to choose; some preconference events are free while others cost several hundred dollars. Other major conferences scheduled for the coming months include the Autism Society of America National Conference and Exposition (July 22-25 in St. Charles, Illinois) and the Asia Pacific Autism Conference 2009 (August 20-22 in Sydney, Australia).
